Its texture and luster are similar to the top-grade suet white jade in nephrite, so it is called suet jade porcelain.
Suet jade porcelain is difficult to fire and has complex techniques. It is the highest grade of Chinese white porcelain and is known as the "Pearl of Porcelain Altar" by the French.
